Job summary

Commonwealth Senior Living at South Boston is seeking a dedicated Cook to join our dining services team. You’ll prepare, present, and serve meals for residents, following established menus, nutritional plans, and safety standards in a warm, community setting.

Full-time role with comprehensive benefits; requires at least 1 year of cooking experience and strong teamwork, communication, and food safety knowledge.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of cooking experience.
• Working experience in retirement home industry preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and safe food handling.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lb.
• Effective communication skills.
• Highly flexible with strong interpersonal skills.
• Computer literacy including MS Word, Excel and e-mail.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all menu items are prepared and served according to policies and procedures.
• Present menu items adhering to established standards.
• Prepare meals per menus and nutritional programs.
• Ensure meal quality in taste, presentation, and dietary requirements.
• Maintain safety and cleanliness of kitchen and dining areas.
• Work at efficient and consistent pace and timely preparation of meals.
• Ensure residents receive meals per dietary requirements.
• Follow reporting procedures for accidents and incidents.
• Arrive at scheduled time and perform other related duties.
