Job summary

Kettering Health Network is seeking a Culinary Associate II to support multiple service lines, including retail, catering, and patient Room Service. You will prepare, assemble, and serve meals while rigorously following HACCP principles and safety guidelines.

The role involves equipment operation, sanitation, and accurate paperwork for orders and charges. Strong communication and customer service skills are required to effectively support patients and colleagues in a fast-paced hospital

Qualifications

• Able to walk and stand for long periods.
• Able to push and pull wheeled carts.
• Able to communicate effectively and follow oral and written instructions.
• Able to tolerate frequent temperature changes, working around equipment that generates heat, steam and cold.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic food preparation and service tasks for retail areas, catering, ingredient room, and/or patient Room Service line.
• Handles food in accordance with HACCP principles and applicable food codes.
• Safely uses, cleans, and cares for equipment and work areas.
• Accurately manages position paperwork and processes (order-taking and preparation, cash register operations, cash-ups, temperature monitoring forms, etc.).
• Follows proper hand hygiene procedures and uses gloves when handling ready-to-eat foods.
• Utilizes scripting and communicates with patients/internal/external customers, describes coffee drinks and products, and notes ingredients and allergens.
• Dates, stores, and monitors food items; uses FIFO and FDA dating guidelines.
• Prepares, assembles, serves, cooks, or bakes food and beverages per guidelines/recipes
• Manages sales transactions through MyMicros software; handles cash, credit card, and gift card transactions.
