Job summary

Culpeper County Public Schools seeks a passionate Culinary Arts instructor to plan and provide engaging learning experiences in classrooms and commercial kitchens. You will design and assess student work, emphasize safety, and prepare students for industry credentials like ServSafe.

Responsibilities include managing the Blaze Kitchen catering program, partnering with community and postsecondary entities, and maintaining records while promoting student growth and employability in culinary careers.

Qualifications

• Possess a Virginia teaching license with the appropriate Career and Technical Education endorsement for Culinary Arts.
• Meet Virginia Department of Education requirements and licensure pathways.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in culinary arts, restaurant operations, or related fields.
• Current ServSafe certification or ability to obtain within the school division timeframe.
• Experience supervising or training learners in a commercial culinary setting.
• Experience with catering operations, costing, inventory, and event execution.

Responsibilities

• Instruct students using demonstrations, hands-on lab experiences, and authentic culinary projects.
• Design engaging experiences aligned with Virginia CTE competencies and standards.
• Deliver instruction with timely feedback and develop objectives, units, lessons, and assessments.
• Assess student performance with formative, summative, and performance-based measures.
• Maintain a positive, inclusive classroom and kitchen environment.
• Communicate progress to parents, guardians, and stakeholders.
• Teach professional culinary practices including knife skills, sanitation, and nutrition.
• Prepare students for culinary and food-safety credentials like ServSafe.
• Manage Blaze Kitchen catering operations as a work-based learning experience.
• Coordinate with partners to provide authentic workplace experiences.
