Job summary

Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a Recreational Therapist to join an interdisciplinary treatment team. You will apply expressive arts and recreation therapies to plan and implement individualized treatment programs, assess patient needs, and promote a therapeutic environment.

The role emphasizes collaboration with clinicians, safety, documentation, and patient engagement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Recreational Therapy required.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• CTRS certification required.
• Three months of relevant psychiatric/medical/clinical experience to gain entry-level abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient care needs and develop/implement treatment plans with an interdisciplinary team.
• Plan Milieu Programming: teaching, skill building, and therapy groups.
• Establish therapeutic relationships with assigned patients.
• Provide input to the interdisciplinary treatment plan as a team member.
• Participate in rounds/treatment planning meetings as necessary.
• Monitor for patient safety risks and report to managers.
• Document and report information per policy; maintain professionalism.
• Create a customer/client friendly environment and uphold quality standards.
• Participate in safety management and crisis intervention as needed.
• Work across diverse clinical settings with varied patient populations.
• Assist in staff training and department performance evaluations.
