Job summary

Mile 2 is recruiting a CTO to lead its technical vision, engineering execution, and innovation strategy. You will report to the CEO and shape the technology roadmap for mission-critical systems that blend AI, human factors, and hardware with edge and cloud components.

As a member of the executive team, you will drive enterprise architecture, scalable delivery, and reusable capability development while guiding productization and IRAD investments to align with growth.

Qualifications

• Active Secret clearance or ability to obtain; DoW experience preferred
• 10+ years of progressive software engineering with leadership
• Proven track record leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams
• Experience delivering open-standards-based software for government customers
• Deep proficiency in modern software engineering practices (cloud-native, CI/CD, DevSecOps)
• Hands-on experience with AI/ML in production systems
• Strong user-centered design and collaboration with UI/UX researchers
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement, including senior officials
• Experience with capture, proposal strategy, and growth planning
• Experience transitioning R&D into scalable operational systems

Responsibilities

• Define and own Mile 2’s technology strategy, roadmap, and architecture standards
• Champion human–machine teaming across the software lifecycle
• Evaluate adoption of AI/ML, LLMs, CV, and autonomous systems for DoW use cases
• Oversee engineering delivery across contracts, ensuring quality and schedule
• Scale engineering org, mature operations, and governance frameworks
• Lead TSG and ensure collaboration across teams and domains
• Represent Mile 2’s capabilities to government customers and partners
• Drive reuse, productization, and transitions from prototypes to programs
