Job summary

GiveDirectly is hiring a Chief Technology Officer to lead the building and rebuilding of technology, systems and ways of working for a sustained multi-billion-dollar operation. You will coach a team of engineers, data security professionals and enterprise technologists, aligning technology with aggressive growth and humanitarian impact.

You will manage a ~15-person team with potential to double in 12 months, report to the CEO, and partner with the VP Product.

Qualifications

• Proven record identifying, hiring, and retaining engineers and engineering leaders.
• Ability to evaluate designs, test architecture, and make build-vs-buy decisions.
• Experience setting a guardrail for AI-enabled engineering initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Define our technology vision and target stack for $5B+/year delivery.
• Balance a six-workstream portfolio including new cash delivery stack and legacy systems.
• Build and grow a technology organization from 15 to ~30 engineers.
• Own technical direction, data, security, and reliability across platforms.
• Lead across organizational boundaries as an executive team member.
• Travel approximately 4–6 times per year.
