Job summary

ActAI is seeking a Chief Technology Officer to own technology strategy, architecture and engineering standards across the Group. This leader will operate across multiple businesses while staying close to systems and execution.

The role entails setting standards for reliability, security, and performance; driving architectural simplifications and technical debt resolution; and building world-class engineering teams while remaining hands-on for reviews and incident analysis.

Qualifications

• Deep software engineering background and production systems experience.
• Strong knowledge of backend systems, APIs, databases, cloud infrastructure and distributed systems.
• Experience making architecture decisions across multiple products or engineering teams.
• Strong technical judgement and ability to challenge engineering decisions at implementation level.
• Capable of building world-class engineering teams.
• Still technically hands-on - able to review code, architecture, incidents and difficult engineering problems directly.

Responsibilities

• Own architecture and major technical decisions across group products and platforms.
• Review critical systems, architecture, infrastructure and code directly.
• Set engineering standards across reliability, security, performance, testing and code quality.
• Identify technical debt and architecture constraints and drive their resolution.
• Improve engineering productivity, development speed and production reliability.
• Decide where technology and infrastructure should be shared across Group businesses.
• Recruit and assess senior engineers, technical leads and engineering leaders.
