Job description

Medblocks is building a developer-focused “stack for healthcare” that makes it possible for anyone to build applications that integrate directly with clinical workflows without rebuilding expensive Electronic Medical Records systems. We believe code has the potential to save more lives than doctors can by themselves.

Founded by doctors-turned-programmers, our team leverages open, vendor-neutral standards like openEHR, FHIR, SMART, and SNOMED CT to create a platform that makes healthcare data accessible, interoperable, and useful.

Our Culture

At Medblocks, we operate with three core values:

Trust: We trust you’ll get your work done without micromanagement. We don’t enforce working hours or monitor your activity—we measure outcomes, not outputs.

Transparency: We believe information flow is at the heart of a healthy company. We share detailed financials and metrics with our team and maintain open communication about company direction.

Customer Value & Honesty: We’re obsessively focused on delivering value to our customers and maintaining honest relationships about what our technology can and cannot do.

We’re a team that values deep work, clear communication, and continuous learning. We’re building technology that matters, and we’re looking for individuals who want their code to make a difference in healthcare.

The Role

We are seeking an executive leader to join our US team as Chief Technology Officer. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will be based in the US, managing our US-based Project Manager and serving as the primary technical bridge to our offshore engineering hub, Medblocks-India.

In this role, you will lead Medblocks’ overarching technology strategy, drive complex US healthcare data integration projects, and ensure our solutions adhere to standards like FHIR, openEHR, HIPAA, and TEFCA. You will align technical capabilities with business goals, oversee system architectures, and ensure seamless delivery across international teams.

  • Location: US
  • Work Authorization: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States

  • Oversee the design and development of healthcare technology solutions, including APIs, data integration systems, and platform-based offerings.
  • Establish technical standards, architecture guidelines, and development protocols to ensure system reliability and security.
  • Evaluate and implement emerging technologies to enhance Medblocks’ service offerings and competitive position.
  • Ensure full compliance with US healthcare data regulations, including HIPAA and TEFCA, across all technical solutions.
  • Drive the practical implementation of FHIR and openEHR frameworks across client solutions.
  • Oversee system integration processes to guarantee seamless data exchange between healthcare platforms and client systems.
  • Supervise product and service development initiatives, prioritizing platform scalability, security, and performance.
  • Coordinate directly with Medblocks-India to guide technical development activities, maintaining consistency with project requirements and delivery timelines.
  • Directly manage and mentor the US Project Manager; review and approve technical project plans for feasibility and resource allocation.
  • Partner with the US Office Manager, Account Manager, and Product Manager to align operational execution with technical capabilities.
  • Document technical processes and maintain knowledge resources to support internal teams and ongoing platform development.
  • Provide technical input during high-value US client consultations to support custom healthcare solution development.
  • Monitor live system performance and resolve escalated issues to maintain high client satisfaction.
  • Support internal training initiatives by verifying the technical accuracy and relevance of instructional materials.
Requirements
  • Deep, working knowledge of US healthcare regulations, compliance protocols (HIPAA, TEFCA), and integration workflows.
  • Hands-on experience architecting platforms utilizing modern healthcare data standards, specifically FHIR and openEHR.
  • Proven experience working with and guiding offshore development teams in India from a US time zone.
  • 10+ years in a senior engineering management role overseeing project managers, system architecture, and API integration.
