Job summary

Barnes-Jewish Hospital is seeking a patient care assistant to join the Cardiothoracic ICU team on the night shift.

Responsibilities include assisting nurses, taking vital signs, ADLs, and reporting patient changes while maintaining safety and quality care. The role supports a multidisciplinary team in a high-acuity CTICU setting with a 36-hour workweek and rotating nights and weekends. Must have a High School diploma; CNA certification preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CNA certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Implements direct patient care under the supervision of the nurse, promoting patient and family centered care.
• Collects vital signs and reports changes to the nurse.
• Assists nurse with ADLs and patient education; may act as 1:1 sitter as needed.
• Ensures supplies and equipment are available to meet patient needs.
