Job summary

Lehigh Carbon Community College is seeking a Career and Technical Education Tutor to provide direct academic support for CTE students and to collaborate with ESS personnel and faculty. The role includes maintaining records, completing CRLA training, and reporting program outcomes to grant funders.

The tutor will meet students individually, use Socratic methods, and ensure sessions align with Perkins grant requirements while supporting student success and retention in CTE programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Career or Technical area from an accredited institution.
• Act 153 Clearances (Act 34 PA Criminal Background, Act 151 PA Child Abuse History, Act 114 FBI Cogent Clearance Fingerprinting).
• Three years of experience in student services, career counseling, case management, advising, education, human resources, or related fields.
• A minimum of three years proven experience teaching in a classroom.
• One year assisting college students in an advising, counseling, or academic coaching position at an institution of higher education; OR one year employed as a case manager in a human service organization.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct academic support to students enrolled in CTE programs.
• Become familiar with texts, syllabi, and pertinent course assignments.
• Work with CTE program faculty and learning specialists to create coordinated academic support.
• Establish a working relationship with CTE students and ESS personnel.
• Help students understand and contextualize coursework to maintain good standing.
• Meet with students one-on-one via in-person, phone, or Zoom.
• Utilize Socratic tutoring methods to foster independent learning.
• Maintain student records and complete payroll documentation as required.
• Complete CRLA Level One training and other professional development modules.
• Prepare reports and presentations for college leadership and grant funders.
