Lehigh Carbon Community College in Pennsylvania seeks a full-time CTE Tutor to provide direct academic support for students in Career and Technical Education programs. The role includes CRLA-certified training and collaboration with learning specialists in the ESS Department to ensure program success.

The tutor will maintain student records, assist with remediation when needed, and report outcomes to grant funders and college leadership, reporting to the Dean of Academic Support and Success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Career or Technical area from an accredited institution.
• Act 153 Clearances (Act 34 PA Criminal Background, Act 151 PA Child Abuse History, Act 114 FBI Cogent Clearance Fingerprinting).
• Three years of experience in student services, career counseling, case management, advising, education, HR, or related fields.
• Minimum of three years proven experience teaching in a classroom.
• One year assisting college students in an advising, counseling, or academic coaching position or as a case manager in human services.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct academic support to students in CTE programs.
• Familiarize with texts, syllabi, and course assignments.
• Collaborate with CTE faculty and ESS staff to coordinate academic support.
• Establish relationships with CTE students and ESS personnel.
• Help students understand coursework to maintain good standing.
• Meet with students in-person, via phone, or Zoom.
• Utilize Socratic tutoring methods to promote independent learning.
• Maintain student records and progress sheets.
• Submit paperwork according to payroll schedule.
• Complete required training and development modules.
• Prepare reports and presentations for leadership and grant funders.
• Serve on college committees related to student success.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
