Job summary

Brookdale Community College in New Jersey seeks an Educational Support Specialist for Career and Technical Education programs. You will provide direct tutoring and focused assistance to students, reinforcing technical skills and industry credentials through in-class and lab settings.

Responsibilities include facilitating study groups, guiding use of program software and resources, and helping students prepare for certifications and credentialing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in discipline or related field.
• Experience in tutoring, workforce training, technical instruction, or related field preferred.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively in individual and small-group settings.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and small-group support to students enrolled in Career and Technical Education programs.
• Reinforce technical skills, competencies, and concepts learned through classroom, laboratory, and experiential learning activities.
• Assist students in using program-specific software, technology, equipment, and learning resources.
• Assist students in applying technical knowledge and skills to industry-relevant projects, workplace scenarios, and program-based learning activities.
• Support students in preparing for industry-recognized certifications, licensure and credentialing examinations, portfolio reviews, projects, performance assessments, and other credential attainment requirements.
• Conduct individual and small-group review sessions, study groups, and supplemental learning activities focused on program-specific technical standards, terminology, procedures, and competencies required for credential attainment and employment in the student's field of study.
• Respond to student questions related to course concepts, technical skills, and program expectations.
• Identify recurring areas of student difficulty related to technical skills and communicate observations to faculty to assist in the development of supplemental learning resources and review activities.
