Job summary

North Slope Borough School District seeks a CTE Instructor to guide students in acquiring basic skills and career pathways. Instruction will be individualized to accommodate learning differences, with frequent assessment guiding methods and materials.

The role involves collaboration with staff, families, and the community to foster a safe, productive learning environment. The position is non-benefitted and grant funded for current years; ongoing funding will determine continuation.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of culturally safe and responsive teaching practices.
• Experience with trauma‑informed approaches in schools.
• Experience fostering positive school climate and restorative practices.
• Inupiaq language, history and culture knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Consult with the CTE Director and Manager on program development.
• Create authentic, strength-based, culturally safe instructional environments.
• Develop and support Grow Your Own career paths for students.
• Build relationships with North Slope entities to grow CTE programs.
• Promote NSBSD goals and participate in educational committees.
• Adhere to ethics and professional teaching standards.
• Provide safety instruction for power tools, machines, and protective gear.
• Stay current with CTE practices and district policies.
