Job description

Purpose of Your Job Description:

The primary purpose of your job position is to perform all patient exams with the highest degree of skill, fully utilizing all radiographic, fluoroscopic, and CT scan equipment and protocols to consistently obtain images demonstrating diagnostic levels of radiographic density, contrast, and resolution. You will respond to on-demand requests for service in a timely manner.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Operate radiographic and fluoroscopic fixed equipment.
2. Operate the standard C-Arm under both sterile and non-sterile conditions.
3. Operate and be familiar with techniques for portable x-ray units.
4. Understand and utilize EPIC system.
5. Have training and experience in starting IVs.
6. Produce expected levels of production (volume) at reasonable speeds and on schedule.
7. Have experience with MRI scanning.
8. Maintain a repeat rate at 6% or below.
9. Properly utilize all radiation protection/shielding procedures for patients and staff.
10. Attend to the physical safety of patients and staff.
11. Ensure all areas are clean and supplies are maintained for all exams and procedures.
12. Provide courteous and professional services to patients and visitors.
13. Utilize departmental and hospital information systems for patient care.
14. Correct exams in EPIC when necessary.
15. Submit help desk tickets when needed.
16. Communicate with teleradiology as necessary.
17. Adhere to two patient identifiers with all patients.
18. Be familiar with the appropriate forms for job injuries and patient incidents.
19. Check PACS after exams, print films/CDs upon request.
20. Follow sterile procedures in the OR.
21. Participate actively in reception, film library, and transport functions.
22. Engage in ongoing education to improve performance and maintain required credits.
23. Provide age-appropriate patient care for all age groups, from neonates to seniors.
24. Evaluate patients' behavior, motor skills, and physiological norms based on age.
25. Recognize psychological and physical needs, potential lifestyle changes, and support systems.
26. Assess for signs of abuse/neglect and refer appropriately.
27. Use age-appropriate communication techniques.

Education Requirements:

Completion of a two-year AMA-approved Radiologic Technology program and one year of clinical training in CT scanning at a Joint Commission Accredited facility.

Experience:

• Current, unencumbered license to practice in this state.
• Registration and certification by ARRT in both radiology and CT.
