Job summary

Wellstar Vinings Health Park in Smyrna, Georgia is seeking a FT Outpatient CT Technologist. Technologists are valued clinical professionals and essential members of a collaborative care team.

Join a place where your expertise matters, with emphasis on ALARA principles, patient comfort, and accurate imaging. The role requires ARRT credentials, Radiology experience, and the ability to work 10-hour shifts on weekdays.

Qualifications

• Must have completed an accredited Radiologic Technology program and hold ARRT credentials.
• Minimum 1 year radiology experience and BLS certification.
• Ability to perform CT procedures with ALARA and patient safety focus.

Responsibilities

• Perform CT procedures per department guidelines and maintain diagnostic image quality.
• Operate imaging equipment safely and minimize radiation exposure.
• Maintain infection control and room readiness; report equipment issues.
• Verify orders and patient identifiers before exams; obtain clinical history.
• Explain procedures to patients and address questions using AIDET.
• Position patients, apply markers and shielding, and administer contrast per protocol.
• Document studies accurately in RIS/PACS and ensure proper finalization.

Required Qualifications

• EducationHigh School Diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program
• ExperienceMinimum 1 year experience in Radiology Required
• CertificationsARRT-R (Radiography)
• ARRT-CT – ARRT Computed Tomography
• BLS (Basic Life Support) – American Heart Association

Core Responsibilities

• Perform CT procedures according to department guidelines, use your technical knowledge to capture quality diagnostic images
• Work independently operating imaging and radiographic equipment safely and adjusting techniques to maintain diagnostic quality at the lowest reasonable dose (ALARA)
• Clean, disinfect, and maintain rooms and equipment per infection control schedules; identify and report equipment issues promptly
• Obtain clinical history and screen for contraindications; verify orders and two unique patient identifiers before any exam
• Explain procedures, prep, and post-care clearly using AIDET; address questions and reduce patient anxiety
• Ensure patient comfort, privacy, and safety; provide age-appropriate care throughout the visit
• Perform exams and administer contrast per protocol, using venipuncture and sterile technique when applicable
• Position patients correctly and apply markers, shielding, and immobilization as indicated
• Review images for diagnostic acceptability; repeat or correct as needed and release patients appropriately
• Complete accurate, timely documentation and ensure studies are correctly finalized in RIS and PACS, including transfers, retrieval, CDs, and prior exam retrieval as needed
• Monitor patient condition, respond to emergencies, and help maintain and restock crash cart and life-support equipment as required
• Organize daily workflows to meet expected timeframes; collaborate with technologists and modalities to support department flow
• Support operations and compliance, keep areas orderly and stocked, transport patients safely, complete charging and clerical tasks, follow regulatory requirements, and elevate issues to the supervisor
