Job summary

Wellstar Vinings Health Park in Smyrna, GA is seeking a FT Outpatient Registered CT Technologist. You will be a valued member of a collaborative care team performing CT procedures and ensuring high-quality imaging within ALARA guidelines.

The role requires ARRT-R and ARRT-CT certifications, BLS, and at least 1 year of radiology experience. You will work in a structured, patient-centered environment with opportunities for education and career progression.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
• Minimum 1 year experience in Radiology.
• ARRT-R Certification.
• ARRT-CT Certification.
• BLS certification from American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Perform CT procedures according to department guidelines and capture high-quality diagnostic images.
• Operate imaging and radiographic equipment safely, maintaining diagnostic quality at the lowest reasonable dose (ALARA).
• Maintain rooms and equipment per infection control schedules and promptly report issues.
• Obtain clinical history, verify orders and patient identifiers prior to exams.
• Explain procedures, prep and post-care using AIDET; address patient questions and reduce anxiety.
• Ensure patient comfort, privacy, and safety throughout the visit.
• Administer contrast per protocol using venipuncture and sterile technique when applicable.
• Position patients and apply markers, shielding, and immobilization as indicated.
• Review images for diagnostic acceptability and retake if needed; release patients appropriately.
• Complete accurate documentation in RIS and PACS and manage transfers and prior exams as needed.
• Monitor patient condition; respond to emergencies and assist with crash cart readiness.
• Coordinate daily workflows to meet timeframes and support department operations.
• Ensure work areas are organized, restocked, and compliant with regulatory requirements.

Core Responsibilities

• Perform CT procedures according to department guidelines, use your technical knowledge to capture quality diagnostic images
• Work independently operating imaging and radiographic equipment safely and adjusting techniques to maintain diagnostic quality at the lowest reasonable dose (ALARA)
• Clean, disinfect, and maintain rooms and equipment per infection control schedules; identify and report equipment issues promptly
• Obtain clinical history and screen for contraindications; verify orders and two unique patient identifiers before any exam
• Explain procedures, prep, and post-care clearly using AIDET; address questions and reduce patient anxiety
• Ensure patient comfort, privacy, and safety; provide age-appropriate care throughout the visit
• Perform exams and administer contrast per protocol, using venipuncture and sterile technique when applicable
• Position patients correctly and apply markers, shielding, and immobilization as indicated
• Review images for diagnostic acceptability; repeat or correct as needed and release patients appropriately
• Complete accurate, timely documentation and ensure studies are correctly finalized in RIS and PACS, including transfers, retrieval, CDs, and prior exam retrieval as needed
• Monitor patient condition, respond to emergencies, and help maintain and restock crash cart and life-support equipment as required
• Organize daily workflows to meet expected timeframes; collaborate with technologists and modalities to support department flow
• Support operations and compliance, keep areas orderly and stocked, transport patients safely, complete charging and clerical tasks, follow regulatory requirements, and elevate issues to the supervisor
