Job summary

Wellstar Vinings Health Park in Smyrna, Georgia is seeking a FT Outpatient Registered CT Technologist to join a collaborative care team.

Technologists are valued clinical professionals dedicated to high-quality imaging, patient comfort, and safety; ARRT credentials and a minimum of 1 year radiology experience are required, with a focus on ALARA principles.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
• Minimum 1 year experience in Radiology.
• ARRT-R (Radiography) certification.
• ARRT-CT certification.
• BLS (American Heart Association).

Responsibilities

• Perform CT procedures according to department guidelines and capture quality diagnostic images.
• Operate imaging and radiographic equipment safely, maintaining diagnostic quality at lowest reasonable dose (ALARA).
• Clean, disinfect, and maintain rooms and equipment per infection control schedules.
• Obtain clinical history and verify orders and two patient identifiers before exams.
• Explain procedures, prep, and post-care using AIDET; address questions and reduce anxiety.
• Ensure patient comfort, privacy, and safety; provide age-appropriate care.
• Perform exams and administer contrast per protocol with venipuncture when needed.
• Position patients and apply markers, shielding, and immobilization as indicated.
• Review images for diagnostic acceptability; repeat or adjust as needed and release patients appropriately.
• Document studies accurately in RIS/PACS and manage transfers and prior exam retrieval.
• Monitor patient condition, respond to emergencies, and assist with life-support equipment as required.
• Organize daily workflows to meet timeframes; support department flow and collaboration.
• Maintain areas orderly and stocked; transport patients; complete clerical tasks and ensure regulatory compliance.

Core Responsibilities

• Perform CT procedures according to department guidelines, use your technical knowledge to capture quality diagnostic images
• Work independently operating imaging and radiographic equipment safely and adjusting techniques to maintain diagnostic quality at the lowest reasonable dose (ALARA)
• Clean, disinfect, and maintain rooms and equipment per infection control schedules; identify and report equipment issues promptly
• Obtain clinical history and screen for contraindications; verify orders and two unique patient identifiers before any exam
• Explain procedures, prep, and post-care clearly using AIDET; address questions and reduce patient anxiety
• Ensure patient comfort, privacy, and safety; provide age-appropriate care throughout the visit
• Perform exams and administer contrast per protocol, using venipuncture and sterile technique when applicable
• Position patients correctly and apply markers, shielding, and immobilization as indicated
• Review images for diagnostic acceptability; repeat or correct as needed and release patients appropriately
• Complete accurate, timely documentation and ensure studies are correctly finalized in RIS and PACS, including transfers, retrieval, CDs, and prior exam retrieval as needed
• Monitor patient condition, respond to emergencies, and help maintain and restock crash cart and life-support equipment as required
• Organize daily workflows to meet expected timeframes; collaborate with technologists and modalities to support department flow
• Support operations and compliance, keep areas orderly and stocked, transport patients safely, complete charging and clerical tasks, follow regulatory requirements, and elevate issues to the supervisor
