Job summary

Allegheny Health Network, part of Highmark Health, seeks an experienced CT Technologist to supervise staff, perform advanced CT imaging, and contribute to QA and accreditation efforts. The role emphasizes a daytime schedule with limited weekend or on-call duties.

The ideal candidate holds an Associate's degree or equivalent, CT certification (CNMT/CT) or ARRT RT/CT, CPR certification, and background clearances.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical program.
• Certifications required: NMTCB CNMT and CT; or ARRT Radiography and CT certification; or 2 years' CT technologist experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day department operations and mentor staff.
• Perform and supervise CT imaging procedures in accordance with scope and standards of practice.
• Participate in quality assurance, regulatory testing, and accreditation documentation.
• Contribute to standardization and process-improvement initiatives.
• Cover chief tech duties as assigned.
• Perform other duties as required.

GENERAL OVERVIEW

This job provides supervision of staff and area functions as well as may serve as a physician liaison. Performs various imaging procedures in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization. Performs prescribed radiographic imaging procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. Competently performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment and initiative. This job offers a primary daylight schedule with limited/no weekend, holiday, or on-call responsibilities. This job offers no inpatient or emergency room patient responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs all essential job responsibilities of an inpatient CT Technologist, including but not limited to performing age‑specific diagnostic imaging per established protocols. Effectively communicates and interacts with patients, physicians and other team members. Addresses patient and physician concerns. Responds to adverse events and/or any changes with patient's status. (40%)
• Acts as a day -to- day mentor/resource for staff and others within the department. Orients and trains new staff and students. (20%)
• Performs and/or trains others relative to quality assurance activities, quality control, and regulatory testing and accreditation preparation/documentation. (10%)
• Participates in standardization activities and process improvement initiatives with system-level workgroups (10%)
• Demonstrates proficiency in the performance of specialty exams and analyzes data promptly to resolve problems and improve efficiency. Enter new or edit existing CT scanner protocols. (10%)
• Coverage of chief tech duties as assigned (10%)
• Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum

• Associate's degree; or equivalent from a two-year college or technical; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

One of the following sets of certifications is required

• NMTCB registered (CNMT) and (CT) certification
• ARRT registered (RT) radiography (R) and computed tomography (CT) certified OR
• 2 years' of experience as a CT Technologist.

• Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
• Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
• Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
