Job summary

Stockton-based radiology department is seeking a Per Diem CT Technologist to operate CT equipment with emphasis on minimizing radiation exposure to patients. You will work under the supervision of the Radiologist, selecting proper scan protocols and preparing contrast media for injections.

You will assist Radiologists in invasive and non-invasive procedures, process images in PACS, and ensure patient safety and comfort throughout the exam.

Qualifications

• CRT required
• ARRT (R) required
• ARRT (CT) certification preferred
• Fluoroscopy Permit required within 6 months of hire/transfer
• Current BLS Certification through AHA required
• Image Wisely/Image Gently certification within 30 days of hire/transfer; annually thereafter

Responsibilities

• Prepares room, equipment, and materials for patients
• Cleans and disinfects CT equipment
• Prepares contrast medium for power injection
• Prepares patients for CT exam; explains procedures, transfers patients to table, positions the patient and assists patient at end of procedures
• Assists Radiologist with invasive and non-invasive procedures
• Follows prescribed techniques in administering radiation to patients
• Adheres to age-specific policy for minimal radiation exposure to patients
• Processes images in PACS
• Observes patient and machine during procedure and reports unusual occurrences to Radiologist and nurse
• Maintains stock supplies and performs general office duties
• Transports patients to and from clinical, ancillary and support department areas as directed ensuring patient safety and comfort

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: under the supervision of the Radiologist, the technologist is responsible for choosing proper scan protocols for the ordered examination. Operating the CT equipment with minimal radiation exposure to the patient. Evaluating patient chart for possible allergies or contradictions to IV contrast prior to administration. Assisting Radiologist in invasive procedures. Properly sending all examinations to the PACs (Picture Archiving System) in a timely fashion for the Radiologist to interpret. Maintains supplies and emergency equipment for the department. Must be able to perform jobs in all patient care and operational areas subject to reasonable accommodations, also be able to employ all mandatory safety devices and procedures. Must participate in the Respiratory Protection Program, which may include the wearing of a respirator. This is a union position.

Completion of Radiologic Health Sciences of California program. Preferred but not required.

Licenses/Certificates:

• Current BLS Certification through AHA required
