Dameron Hospital in Stockton, CA is seeking a Radiologic Technologist specialized in CT imaging. Under the supervision of the Radiologist, you will select protocols, operate CT equipment with minimal patient exposure, and prepare contrast media for injections.

You will also assist in invasive procedures and ensure timely PACS transmission for interpretation. The role requires California Radiologic Health Sciences program completion, CRT and ARRT (R) certification, and BLS.

Qualifications

  • CRT certification required.
  • ARRT (R) certification required.
  • ARRT (CT) certification preferred.
  • Fluoroscopy permit required within 6 months of hire.
  • Current BLS certification.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare room, equipment and materials for CT exams.
  • Clean and disinfect CT equipment.
  • Prepare contrast medium for injection.
  • Position and prepare patients for CT exams; transfer to table.
  • Assist Radiologist with invasive and non-invasive procedures.
  • Follow prescribed techniques to administer radiation safely.
  • Adhere to age-specific radiation exposure policies.
  • Process images in PACS for interpretation.
  • Monitor patient and equipment during procedures; report issues.
  • Maintain supplies and perform general office duties.
  • Transport patients as directed ensuring safety and comfort.

POSITION SUMMARY:Responsibilities include but are not limited to: under the supervision of the Radiologist, the technologist is responsible for choosing proper scan protocols for the ordered examination. Operating the CT equipment with minimal radiation exposure to the patient. Evaluating patient chart for possible allergies or contradictions to IV contrast prior to administration. Assisting Radiologist in invasive procedures. Properly sending all examinations to the PACs (Picture Archiving System) in a timely fashion for the Radiologist to interpret. Maintains supplies and emergency equipment for the department. Must be able to perform jobs in all patient care and operational areas subject to reasonable accommodations, also be able to employ all mandatory safety devices and procedures. Must participate in the Respiratory Protection Program, which may include the wearing of a respirator. This is a union position.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS1. Prepares room, equipment, materials as needed for patients2. Cleans and disinfects CT equipment3. Prepares contrast medium for power injection4. Prepares patients for CT exam; explains procedures, transfers patients to table, positions the patient and assists patient at end of procedures.5. Assists the Radiologist with invasive and non-invasive procedures6. Follows prescribed techniques in administering radiation to patients7. Adheres to age-specific policy for minimal radiation exposure to patients8. Processes images in Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS)9. Observes patient and machine during procedure and reports unusual occurrences to Radiologist and nurse10. Maintains stock supplies and performs general office duties11. Transports patients to and from clinical, ancillary and support department areas as directed ensuring patient safety and comfortEducation:Experience: Completion of Radiologic Health Sciences of California program. Preferred but not required.Licenses/Certificates:CRT requiredARRT (R) requiredARRT (CT) certification preferredFluoroscopy Permit required within 6 months of hire/transfer [for incumbent technologists must obtain by December 31, 2015]Current BLS Certification through AHA requiredCertificate from Image Wisely/ Image Gently campaign within 30 days of hire/transfer; annually thereafter
