Job summary

Cook County’s John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital seeks a CAT Technologist to perform CT scan examinations for in-patients and out-patients, ensuring high quality images while following radiation safety and infection control protocols.

The role requires ARRT CT certification, a two-year radiologic technology program, IEMA license, BLS, and the ability to operate Cerner and PACS. Shift is 12:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.; pay in the range $44.377–$53.518 hourly, with experience-based placement.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a two-year AMA approved Radiologic Technology program is required.
• CT certification by ARRT is required at interview time.
• Illinois license (IEMA) required at interview time.
• BLS certification required at interview time.

Responsibilities

• Operates CAT scanner for in-patients and out-patients with safety protocols.
• Explains procedures and ensures patient safety and comfort during scanning.
• Transfers images to PACS/Cerner and enters patient data in RIS.
• Sets scanning parameters (milliampere, exposure, slice thickness, fields).
• Maintains logs, inventories, and QA documentation daily.
• Assists in teaching CAT scanning procedures to residents and students.
