Overview

To perform routine and specialized examinations in the specialty area of CT, adapt procedures to obtain specific diagnostic and/or therapeutic results; prepare patients for examinations. This requires independent judgment to adapt procedures to obtain specific diagnostic results under the direction of a radiologist.

Qualifications

• License/Certifications:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Licensed Radiologic Technologist - Radiography - Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA)
  • Registered in Radiography (R) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Registered in Computed Tomography (CT) within 1 year - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)

Education

Associate's Degree or Certificate in Radiology or Related Field

Responsibilities

• Perform procedures ensuring accurate and complete examinations within guidelines, policies, procedures, and standards of Medical Imaging.
• Maintain knowledge of equipment to function in all aspects of CT.
• Exhibit competency in performing and filming CT radiographic and specialized procedures.
• Deviate from routines when patient's condition requires or at radiologist's request.
• Assist radiologist with invasive procedures, sterile setup, catheters, guidewires, and schedule procedures.
• Obtain and document pre and post-procedure information accurately.
• Follow JCAHO patient safety goals and maintain quality care throughout procedures.
• Operate equipment hardware and software, troubleshoot, and report issues.
• Maintain clean work area, stock supplies, and verify accessories.
• Ensure timely processing of films and paperwork, coordinate patient flow, and complete system entries accurately.
• Maintain a safe environment and support QA, QC, QI programs.
• Train and guide fellow technologists/students, promote safety, and improve area appearance during downtime.

Compensation and Benefits
