Job Summary of the CT Technologist

The CT Tech coordinates imaging services (CT and Radiology), monitors clerical functions, ensures efficient patient throughput, and utilizes equipment and staff effectively. Responsible for performing CT scans and radiographs per standards set by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, assisting in diagnosis or treatment, applying patient care principles, and recognizing patient conditions. Ensures staff training and competence, applies growth and development principles, exercises professional judgment, and maintains ethical standards.

Participates in providing patient-specific care, follows service excellence standards, and strives for high patient satisfaction.

Responsibilities of the CT Technologist

• Perform prescribed CT procedures.
• Use CT scan equipment proficiently.
• Understand human anatomy and physiology.
• Document exam findings accurately.
• Relay relevant patient information to physicians.
• Apply radiation safety principles.
• Participate in rotating call schedule.
• Perform other duties as needed.
• Engage in training and in-service programs.

Education & Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited radiology program (JRCERT or AMA approved) or equivalent military training.
• Associate's Degree or higher in Radiologic Technology.

Experience

• 1-2 years of CT experience preferred.

Licenses & Certifications

• Licensed by Texas Department of State Health Services as a Medical Radiologic Technologist.
• Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• Post-primary CT certification within 6 months of hire.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 30 days of employment.
