Job description

Provides support for the delivery of a full range of medical imaging procedures. Assists and performs a variety of technical and patient care duties to enhance the effective and efficient delivery of radiology services under the supervision of a registered professional technologist.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Education, Certification, and/or Licensure:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire.
• Competency in the use of safe patient handling equipment within 30 days of hire.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience: One year of experience in a clinical setting.

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following statements describe the general nature of work performed by this position. They are not exhaustive, and other duties may be assigned.

1. Greet patients upon arrival and facilitate a positive department experience.
2. Answer phone calls courteously, identify self and unit.
3. Verify written orders for completeness and notify physicians of inaccuracies.
4. Support Radiologic Technologists in planning and executing routine imaging procedures.
5. Prepare patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures.
6. Notify personnel of patient arrivals.
7. Assess and support patient comfort needs.
8. Provide direct patient care to facilitate imaging services.
9. Assist in transporting and handling patients safely.
10. Escort patients during procedures and assist with arrivals and departures.
11. Maintain a clean, safe environment to prevent infection.
12. Collaborate positively with the healthcare team.
13. Report patient concerns or condition changes immediately.
14. Assist with routine operations for smooth unit functioning.
15. Coordinate workflow between departments and patient areas.
16. Support patient physical comfort during gowning and basic care.
17. Engage in problem solving and systems implementation for quality care.
18. Transport patients to and from imaging and ED as needed.

Additional Requirements

• Completion of annual education related to specialty accreditation.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs, stand and walk for extended periods, and handle materials weighing up to 50 pounds.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Exposure to minimal radiation and airborne particles, with safety monitoring.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES
