Work Hours: Monday through Friday - from 2:30 pm until 11 pm. The shift is evenings to help with creating availability for more MRI & CT scans until 11 pm. If the schedules are not fully booked out until 11 pm, then they could leave early.

Job Summary

Must be flexible with work hours to meet department needs. Must be dependable, accountable, and cooperative. Assists with providing safe, age-appropriate care to patients by performing all exams according to department procedures. Has the knowledge and ability to obtain quality diagnostic studies safely. Responsible for performing a wide variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative. Sets up equipment and positions patients for procedures.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions
Patient Care
  • Verifies proper clinician order for procedures.
  • Obtains complete clinical history, gathers examination data, and assesses contraindications.
  • Follows procedures for contrast media administration to ensure patient safety and comfort.
  • Ensures proper patient identification and marker usage.
  • Reviews images for quality and releases patients.
  • Responds to emergencies and maintains life support equipment.
  • Assists other technologists as needed.
  • Observes patient condition, evaluates situations for physician intervention.
  • Verifies patient identity using two identifiers.
  • Maintains patient privacy and dignity.
  • Demonstrates competence in procedures based on patient age.
  • Organizes schedule and priorities.
  • Follows physician instructions and demonstrates proficiency with equipment.
  • Uses critical thinking and communicates effectively with patients and families.
  • Prepares patients for procedures and maintains sterile techniques.
  • Maintains competency with venipuncture.
Equipment
  • Adjusts techniques to minimize radiation dose while maintaining image quality.
  • Reports equipment issues promptly.
  • Cleans and disinfects equipment per infection control policies.
Education and Communication
  • Explains procedures to patients to reduce anxiety using AIDET.
  • Addresses patient questions and concerns, notifying physicians if unable to resolve.
  • Participates in training and provides patient instructions.
  • Documents accurately and completes mandatory education.
Quality Control
  • Produces acceptable images, checks equipment calibration, and uploads studies promptly.
  • Ensures studies are completed in RIS and PACS.
Operations
  • Restocks supplies, transports and positions patients, and performs charging activities.
  • Applies shielding and immobilization devices.
  • Assists colleagues and maintains department cleanliness.
  • Notifies supervisor of issues, maintains productivity, and operates all work stations.
  • Takes call as needed and performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Certifications

Radiologic Technology certification. Required upon hire:

  • ARRT Radiography
  • ARRT Computed Tomography
  • BLS or BLS-Instructor
Experience and Skills

Minimum 1 year in radiology; less than 1 year in CT preferred. Must have excellent communication, customer service, and the ability to work independently and under pressure. Knowledge of anatomy, pathology, quality control, and radiation safety is essential.
