Work Hours: Monday through Friday, from 2:30 pm until 11 pm. The shift is evenings to help with creating availability for more MRI & CT scans until 11 pm. If the schedules are not fully booked until 11 pm, then they could leave early.

Job Summary
Must be flexible with work hours to meet department needs. Must be dependable, accountable, and cooperative. Assists with providing safe, age-appropriate care to patients by performing all exams provided by the department according to procedures. Has the knowledge and ability to safely obtain quality diagnostic studies. Responsible for performing a variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative. Sets up equipment and positions patients for procedures.
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions
Patient Care
- Verifies proper clinician order for procedure.
- Obtains complete clinical history, gathers examination data, and assesses contraindicating conditions.
- Follows procedures for contrast media administration, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
- Ensures studies have proper patient identification and correct markers.
- Reviews images for quality and releases patients.
- Responds to emergencies and maintains life support equipment.
- Assists other technologists as needed.
- Monitors patient condition and evaluates situations requiring physician intervention.
- Verifies patient identity using two identifiers prior to procedures.
- Maintains patient privacy and dignity.
- Demonstrates competence in procedures, equipment, and techniques based on patient age.
- Organizes schedule and priorities.
- Follows physician instructions during procedures.
- Proficient with power injection and uses critical thinking skills.
- Communicates effectively with patients and families.
- Prepares patients for procedures and maintains sterile techniques.
- Maintains venipuncture competency.
Equipment
- Adjusts techniques to minimize radiation dose while maintaining image quality.
- Reports equipment malfunctions promptly.
- Cleans and disinfects equipment per infection control policies.
Education and Communication
- Explains procedures to patients to minimize anxiety using AIDET.
- Addresses patient questions and concerns, notifying physicians as needed.
- Participates in training and provides patient instructions.
- Documents accurately and legibly.
- Reviews daily schedules and completes mandatory education.
Quality Control
- Produces acceptable images as per feedback and audits.
- Checks equipment calibration and operation before use.
- Sends studies to PACS immediately, prints CDs as needed.
- Completes studies in RIS and PACS, submits logs.
Operations
- Restocks supplies and maintains department cleanliness.
- Transports and positions patients.
- Performs patient charging activities.
- Applies shielding and immobilization devices.
- Assists colleagues and performs clerical duties as needed.
- Informs supervisor of responsibilities and issues.
- Operates all work stations and maintains standards.
- Takes call as necessary and performs other duties assigned.
Minimum Education
Radiologic Technology certification or equivalent.
Licenses and Certifications
- ARRT Radiography
- ARRT Computed Tomography
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or BLS Instructor
Experience
Minimum 1 year in Radiology; less than 1 year in CT preferred.
Skills
Excellent communication skills, ability to work independently and under pressure, customer service orientation, attention to detail, and proficiency in CT procedures and safety standards.
