Job summary

UAB Medical West Hospital is seeking a CT/Radiology Scan Technician to operate CT and radiology equipment, prepare patients, and ensure high-quality diagnostic imaging. You will work closely with radiologists to support timely clinical decisions and patient care.

The role requires an accredited Radiologic Technology program with CT focus, ARRT RT certification, state licensure, and BLS. Preference for ARRT-CT credentials, PACS/RIS familiarity, and hospital experience.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program with a focus on CT imaging.
• ARRT certification as Radiologic Technologist (RT) or equivalent.
• Current state licensure to practice as a Radiologic Technologist.
• Knowledge of CT imaging techniques, radiation safety and patient care standards.
• BLS certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Operate CT scanners and other radiology imaging equipment to capture diagnostic images per protocols.
• Prepare and position patients, ensuring comfort and safety during imaging.
• Review images for quality and adjust as needed for optimal results.
• Maintain patient records and imaging logs in line with privacy standards.
• Collaborate with radiologists and healthcare teams to discuss results and support diagnosis.
• Ensure imaging equipment is well maintained, calibrated, and compliant with safety standards.
• Adhere to radiation safety protocols to minimize exposure.
• Communicate clearly with patients about procedures and address questions.
