Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in California seeks a Diagnostic Radiologic Technician (CT) to perform routine and complex X-ray and CT exams. The role requires ARRT certification and ability to manage imaging data with PACS, while adhering to safety and quality standards.

The position includes irregular shifts, weekend/evening/night/hours coverage, and collaboration with radiologists to provide timely diagnostic imaging across departments such as Emergency and Operating Rooms.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizens eligible for federal employment.
• ARRT certification in radiography (R) is required; CT/MRI/Mammography certifications may be needed for independent CT duties.
• Completion of JRCERT-accredited or DOE-recognized diagnostic radiologic technology program (24 months or equivalent).
• Experience at or above GS-9 level demonstrated by clinical competencies and ability to perform advanced imaging procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and complex X-ray and CT exams with or without supervisor.
• Determine when to call a radiologist for diagnosis and manage exam scheduling.
• Maintain safety regulations and prioritize STAT requests.
• Ensure imaging data is properly entered, stored, and reported for AMIS and PACS.
• Respond to Code Brain events with rapid CT and interpretation.
