Job summary

WH Wheeling Hospital Inc. is seeking a Radiology Support Specialist to assist in the Radiology department, greet patients, prepare them for imaging, and coordinate with technologists and physicians to ensure smooth operations.

Responsibilities include handling patient transport, answering calls, verifying orders, and maintaining a clean, safe imaging area. A high school diploma and BLS within 30 days are required, with at least one year in a clinical setting preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.
• Competency in the use of safe patient handling equipment.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and facilitates their department experience.
• Answers calls promptly and identifies self and unit.
• Verifies completeness of written orders and notifies physicians of inaccuracies.
• Supports Radiologic Technologists in planning and executing routine imaging procedures.
• Prepares patients for basic examinations and diagnostic procedures.
• Informs staff of patient arrival and coordinates workflow.
• Provides direct patient care to support routine imaging services.
• Assists in transporting patients safely per policy.
• Maintains a clean, safe environment to prevent infections.
• Promotes teamwork with radiology staff, nursing, residents and physicians.
