Qualifications

• Associate's Degree or completion of an accredited Technical Program.
• Radiologic Technologist (Temporary) Permit required at time of hire
• NYS Radiologic Technologist IV License required within 180 days of permit issuance
• ARRT Certification in Radiography (X-Ray) required within 180 days of hire
• ARRT Certification in Computed Tomography (CT) required within 1 year of hire
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.

Responsibilities

• Follows accepted radiologic practices to determine imaging protocols.
• Adheres to special instructions on radiologic requisitions.
• Consults manuals to ensure protocol compliance.
• Independently performs patient examinations per departmental policies.
• Collaborates with other technologists regarding prior imaging approaches when appropriate.
• Performs CT and radiographic procedures in accordance with orders and protocols.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Assesses patient history to determine appropriate imaging procedures.
• Verifies patient identity prior to examinations.
• Reviews imaging requisitions and consults with medical staff as needed.
• Explains procedures and equipment to patients clearly.
• Follows infection control and safety precautions.
• Modifies examinations to optimize diagnostic quality.

Education

Associate's Degree or completion of an accredited Technical Program

NYS Radiologic Technologist IV License

ARRT Certification in Radiography (X-Ray)
