Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking an Assistant Tech Imaging to support technologists, nurses, and physicians in imaging services. The role coordinates patient flow, prepares rooms, verifies orders, and assists during exams.

Proficiency with radiology scheduling systems and strong communication are essential in a busy department. The incumbent will ensure accurate patient information, maintain supply stock, and escalate issues to clinical staff as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Strong problem solving and organizational skills.
• Demonstrates computer skills.
• CPR Certification (BLS) is required.
• Preferred: experience in a healthcare delivery position.
• Bilingual language skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Cares for the patient throughout the treatment/procedure in accordance with department and hospital standards of care.
• Prepares procedure rooms for patients and work area; verifies paperwork and orders.
• Explains exams and answers basic questions; understands MR Safety if MR assignment and directs complex questions to clinical staff.
• Works under supervision to assist technologists, nurses, or physicians during exams/procedures.
• Manages patient flow, coordinates care, and informs coordinators of delays.
• Retrieves orders from EPIC, Chartview, Powerchart; verifies patient demographics and eligibility.
• Monitors schedules to ensure efficient patient flow across imaging areas.
• Maintains supplies and equipment; keeps environment clean and orderly.
• Provides clerical/technical support as assigned by Manager.
