Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a CSH Advance Practice Nurse to manage pediatric developmental behavioral health cases in Union, NJ. The APN will coordinate care, educate staff and families, and lead clinical protocols in a collaborative hospital setting.

Requires pediatric APN certification, NJ licensure as RN NP, and strong clinical and communication skills. Full-time on-site role with competitive salary and benefits in a hospital-serving community.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a Master’s or doctoral degree in pediatric advanced practice.
  • APN certification from the State of NJ and current national certification in specialty.
  • AHA BLS Provider certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains cooperative relationships with colleagues and external contacts.
  • Develops and implements a Joint Protocol for clinical practice in collaboration with physicians.
  • Collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to implement Patient and Family Centered Care practices.
  • Participates in team meetings and student education as lecturer/preceptor.
  • Maintains accurate billing and documentation.
  • Provides developmental assessment, diagnosis, and management for children/adolescents 0–21 years in Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics.

Job Summary

The APN is a licensed independent practitioner who is responsible for managing health problems and coordinating health care for children in accordance with professional standards and hospital guidelines,

The APN works collaboratively with other members of the medical staff to provide care to patients in Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics,

The APN possesses a comprehensive knowledge base established within a sound theoretical framework and utilizes advanced assessment skills, specialty expertise, and age appropriate interventions,

The APN provides staff and patient education and is an integral member of the health care team,

Essential Job Functions

Develops and maintains cooperative relationships with colleagues as well as external contacts

Develops and implements a Joint Protocol specific to their clinical practice area and consults with collaborating physicians as established in the joint protocol,

Collaborates with the full interdisciplinary team including patients and families and all other areas of the organization to ensure the development and implementation of Patient and Family Centered Care practices,

Participates in team meetings and conferences when available to enhance an interdisciplinary approach to health care delivery,

Participates in the education of students by serving as a lecturer and precepting students in the clinical area,

Maintains accurate billing,

Identifies knowledge and skill needs through self assessment and annual performance evaluation,

In addition, the APN for Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics outpatient will also be responsible for: Providing developmental assessment, diagnosis, and management for children and adolescents ages 0 to 21 years,

This includes, but is not limited to diagnoses and management medications when indicated of autism, ADHD, developmental delay, learning difficulties, behavioral difficulties, anxiety and depression with referral to higher level of care when indicated,

Meets expectations of department staff positions as required to meet customer expectations,

Demonstrates understanding of diagnosis: pertinent medical findings,

rationale and goals of treatment,

and medical interventions for patients through practice and written documentation,

Initiates, directs and leads team s to meet comprehensive medical patient care needs, utilizing quality and cost effective methods,

Assists in identifying and resolving ethical problems or dilemmas of individuals or systems

Recognizes the need for continuity and completeness of care, above and beyond basic needs,

Communicates and incorporates relevant research findings into practice, education and consultation,

Motivates staff to improve their performance, continuously, leading to improved department performance,

Maximizes potential of self and colleagues by supporting professional growth and attending and conducting training and orientation sessions,

Maintains credentials and continuing education according to professional practice standards and relevant statutes and regulations,

Coordinates the development and implementation of policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of services to meet customer expectations,

Formal Education and Job Related Experience

Master s or doctoral degree in pediatric advanced practice,

Family nurse practitioners with a strong pediatric background will be considered,

Minimum of 3 to 5 years nursing experience required,

Experience as a practicing APN is strongly preferred,

Experience in developmental pediatrics is preferred,

Certification

Must have APN certification from the State of NJ Must have current national certification in area of specialty ,

AHA BLS Provider Certification required,

License

Must have RN NP license from State of NJ
