Job summary
RWJBarnabas Health is seeking an Advanced Practice Nurse to rotate among Primary Care Livingston, Millburn Primary Care, and Parsippany practices. The APN will assist with seeing new patients, follow ups, and same-day appointments, contributing to coordinated patient care across multiple sites.
The role requires a Master's in Nursing, APN/RN licenses, NP certification, and DEA/CDS. You will work under physician supervision to deliver comprehensive care with a focus on evidence-based practice.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Nursing required.
- APN Licnese, RN License and NP Certification.
- CDS and DEA; CPR, BLS and ACLS certifications.
- 2+ years of APP experience.
Responsibilities
- Records patient progress notes, issues diagnostic orders, and transcribes orders.
- Assists with counseling and education functions.
- Billing for patient services based on CMS and NJ State Board Regulations.
- Develops plan of care in coordination with multidisciplinary team and completes reports to physicians and family.
- Documents and maintains patient records of services provided per nursing standards.
- Examination of patients to determine illness and prescribe treatments as indicated.
- Issues prescriptions based on Federal & State Regulations.
- Orders and reviews laboratory and diagnostic procedures.
- Reviews lab data and documents; participates in protocol development.
- Provides monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits.
- Maintains quality and adequacy of nursing practice and HIPAA compliance.
- Interviews and educates patients regarding health and illness prevention.

- Millburn Primary Care (120 Millburn Ave, Suite 204, Millburn)
- 3699 US 46, Parsippany
- M-F 8:30a-5p or 8a-4p
- 2 days in Livingston, 2 days in Millburn
- Wednesdays in Parsippany: admin time in the morning, patients in the afternoon

- Participates in the development of protocols
- Performs and obtains a completed medical history and physical data on patients with appropriate documentation and findings
- Performs independent evaluations and treatment procedures in emergency situations
- Performs procedures such as lumbar puncture (initially under direct supervision and once qualified independently)
- Provides monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits
- Responsible for maintaining the quality and adequacy of nursing practice
- Reviews and audits charts routinely
- Responsible for coordinating nursing and training programs on compliant for policies such as HIPPA, OSHA, Code of Conduct
- Works in collaboration with a physician to diagnose conditions as necessary
- Interviews, instructs and advises patients regarding health and illness prevention
- Instructs patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions
- Provides a compassionate and supportive environment with prompt and consistent service
- Adheres to patient rights: provides for the confidential treatment of all communications and records
- Demonstrates professionalism with families, visitors, physicians, co-workers and supervisors
- Listens and communicates effectively
- Supports teamwork by cooperative problem solving through participation in meetings, projects, etc
- Utilizes principles of continuous quality improvement in all work situations to assess, measure and improve organizational and department functions
- Organizes work sets priorities with a minimum of supervision and seeks guidance as appropriate
- Makes decisions that are timely and consistent with department, objectives, policies and procedures
- Demonstrates sound judgment; accepts and benefits from constructive criticism
- Participates in ongoing education as required
