Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health in Newark, NJ seeks an Advance Practice Provider for Neonatology at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center. The APP assesses and manages care for critically ill neonates, infants, and young children in collaboration with neonatology and an interdisciplinary team.

The role requires CDS/DEA, NRP and BLS, RN and APN licensure, and certification with NICU/PICU experience as applicable. Scheduling is full-time with day shifts and rotating nights, weekends, and holidays.

  • Current NRP and BLS certification
  • APN License and RN License required
  • One of: NNP Certification with NICU RN experience; Primary Care Pediatric NP Certification with inpatient APP experience; Acute Care Pediatric NP Certification with PICU APP experience

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations and assessments of patients.
  • Diagnose and treat a wide range of medical conditions in collaboration with a physician.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
  • Perform procedures as necessary.
  • Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care.
  • Communicate with patients and families regarding treatment plans and education.
  • Stay current with medical guidelines and regulations.
  • Engage in continuing education and professional development.
  • Participate in research or quality improvement projects as directed.

Job Overview:

The Neonatal Advanced Practice Provider provides health care to neonates, infants and children up to one year of age. The APP provides care for critically ill premature and full‑term infants with an emphasis placed on family centered culturally diverse sensitive care. In collaboration with the Neonatologist, the APP has daily responsibility for the assessment and management of patients in high and low acuity.

The Advanced Practice Provider practices in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team to provide a continuum of primary, acute and or subspecialty healthcare to their patients.

They enhance the quality of care through education and clinical practice utilizing advanced practice, knowledge and research.

General Requirements:
  • CDS and DEA
  • Current NRP and BLS certification
APN Specific Requirements:
  • APN License
  • RN License
  • One of the following
    • NNP Certification with NICU RN experience
    • Primary Care Pediatric NP Certification with APP experience in an inpatient setting
    • Acute Care Pediatric NP Certification with PICU setting procedural experience as an APP
PA Specific Requirements
  • PA License
  • PICU procedural experience or NICU experience as an APP
  • NCCPA
