Job summary

  • Organize virtual meeting spaces for programs.
  • Promote program logistics on Engage and via emails.
  • Develop registration processes.
  • Create content for at least one academic year program.
  • Research resources to use in workshops with coordinators.
  • Attend weekly supervisory group meetings with peer educators.
  • Administer pre/post assessments to determine student needs.
  • Assist in program marketing and registration processes with student staff.
  • Provide administrative support during CSB programs (admit participants, track attendance).
  • Research CSB and other campuses’ educational and media efforts.
  • Attend CSB trainings in the evenings/weekends.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Description:

Summary:

The Center for Student Belonging is seeking undergraduate students. All Peer Educators will develop workshop content and facilitate peer-to-peer programs that cultivate self-reflection on multiple identity-based personal experiences, societal and structural issues, and systemic impact. The center is looking for a collaborative team player interested in enhancing the experience of all students, understanding the campus climate, and partnering intentionally with campus partners and administrative offices to tell stories and share experiences through video media.

The Supervisor for this role is the Associate Director for Education & Support Programs & The Assistant Director for LGBTQIA+ Programs & Support.

CSB promotes a diverse, respectful, and inclusive learning, living, and working environment for the university community. The center promotes the personal growth of students by providing specialized university-wide educational programs and training, Intergroup Dialogues, as well as support for First-Generation, LGBTQIA+, District Scholars, and the Summer Transition Enrichment Program (STEP) cohort.

Essential Functions :

  • Co-facilitate, design, and support program implementation of 7 educational programs, specifically dialogues, workshops, panels, campus collaborations, with a fellow peer educator.

  • Organizing virtual meeting spaces/platforms for programs.

  • Promoting program logistics on Engage and via emails.

  • Developing registration processes.

  • Develop content for at least one academic year program.

  • Research cutting-edge resources such as blogs, video clips, activities, and current events etc. to utilize in workshops/programs with Graduate Coordinator of Dialogue and Support Programs & Graduate Coordinator of LGBTQIA+ Education and Support Programs.

  • Weekly supervisory group meetings with fellow peer educators or small group planning meetings to brainstorm and explore needs.

  • Administer pre and post assessments to determine student needs and program topics.

  • Work with student staff to develop and implement program marketing and registration processes.

  • Provide administrative support during Center programs to admit participants, track attendance, etc.

  • Research, benchmark, and assess CSB and other campuses’ educational, support programs, & media efforts.

  • Peer Educators will undergo regularly scheduled mandatory CSB training(s) throughout the academic year (trainings conducted primarily in the evenings and weekends).

  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

  • Part-time.

  • 7 hours per week.

Salary Range:

  • $18.40 per hour.

Required Education and Experience:

  • The Peer Educators must be current AU enrolled students at full-time status under Federal Work Study.

  • Student must have a base knowledge and understanding of facilitation, dialogue and training development.

Preferred Education and Experience :

  • Students with exceptional dialogue experience.

  • Experience developing curriculum for programs, workshops, dialogues, etc. on a variety of social and identity-based issues.

  • Strong facilitation skills and experience with ability to navigate group dynamics.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of multi-layered aspects of identity, intersectionality, including ability, nationality, religious belief and practice, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, racial identity and ethnicity, etc.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to inclusive language.

  • Works well with other students, staff, and faculty on collaborative projects.

  • Ability to provide program recommendations based on students’ needs.

  • Strong organization skills to effectively manage multiple priorities.

  • Critical thinker and innovative problem solver.

  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and take initiative.

  • Flexibility and creativity.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

  • This is an in-person (non-hybrid) position that can work up to 5 to 7 hours (per week). You will be asked to be available during evenings and weekends for some programming.

  • There is no paid time off or tuition reimbursement available for this position.
