The University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a Grants & Contracts Specialist I (Pre & Post-Award) in the Med-Computational and Systems Biology program. This role performs pre- and post-award accounting duties for small grants and contracts and supports award negotiations, monitoring, and reporting.

You will assist with preparing schedules, government applications, and policy interpretation, and collaborate with the department’s administrative team on projects and operations.

Qualifications

  • Background in accounting or finance.
  • Experience in pre- and post-award grant administration preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Excel and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Familiarity with Pitt systems (e.g., MyFunding, Concur, Tableau) is a plus.

Job Summary

Performs pre- and post-award accounting duties for small grants and contracts. Prepares, negotiates, and monitors grants and contracts. Assists with maintaining award-related schedules, preparing government applications and reports, and policy and procedure interpretation. Monitors account activity and prepares routine financial documents.

Essential Functions

This position provides support for pre- and post-award grant administration and department accounts, including monitoring account activity, preparing routine financial documents, account reconciliation, purchasing and reimbursement, and related fiscal and office duties. The incumbent should have a background in accounting or finance. Experience in pre and post award grant administration is preferred. The incumbent will also collaborate with the administrative team in the Department of Computational and Systems Biology on strategic projects, daily and long-term operational tasks, and other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

The ideal candidate is proficient in SharePoint, OneDrive, Excel, other core Microsoft Office applications, and Adobe Acrobat. Familiarity with Pitt systems such as MyFunding, Concur, Tableau, PantherExpress, and PRISM is preferred but not required.

A hybrid work schedule is available; the specific schedule is to be agreed with the department administration.
