Job summary

Chart Industries in New Prague, MN is seeking an engineer to help design, test, and validate cryogenic equipment from concept through installation. You will work in a production factory and engineering lab, with travel up to 10% for validation and testing.

The role requires hands-on lab work, data analysis, and collaboration across departments to ensure safety, quality, and compliance with ISO and IATF standards.

Qualifications

• BS degree in engineering (mechanical preferred) or equivalent technical background.
• Minimum 3+ years of relevant engineering and test experience.
• Motivated, independent self-starter with initiative.
• Strong problem solving and communication skills, both oral and written.
• Excellent data management, processing, and reporting abilities.
• Ability to plan and manage multiple tasks concurrently.
• Customer service orientation and teamwork mindset.
• Experience with experiment methodology and laboratory procedures.
• Hands-on capabilities with lab setups up to 50% of time.
• Understanding heat transfer, vacuum insulation, and fluid flow.
• Familiar with cryogenic liquids, compressed gas, and properties.

Responsibilities

• Review product specs and research test methods.
• Instrument products to acquire real-world service conditions.
• Utilize data acquisition systems and collect data.
• Prepare test specimens and assemble prototype parts.
• Set up experiments per project requirements.
• Install test instruments and wiring; transfer cryogens.
• Compile and analyze data to identify critical events.
• Design and fabricate test fixtures and bench tests.
• Schedule and manage test programs.
• Document methods and results in technical reports.
• Develop DVP&Rs from DFMEA outputs and ensure ISO/IATF compliance.
• Observe safety procedures and collaborate with interdepartmental teams.
