Job summary

Chart, Inc. in Minnesota seeks an engineer to design, test, and install cryogenic equipment from concept through commissioning at site. You will instrument products, run experiments, and manage data plus safety and quality protocols.

The role requires a BS in engineering and 3+ years of test experience; hands-on lab work up to 50% of time; travel within US and possibly Europe about 10%.

Qualifications

• BS degree in engineering (mechanical preferred) or related field.
• 3+ years of engineering and test experience.
• Motivated, independent self-starter with proactive work style.
• Excellent problem solving and communication skills.
• Strong data management, analysis, and reporting abilities.
• Experience with experiment methods and laboratory procedures.
• Hands-on lab setup; up to 50% lab time.
• Understand heat transfer, vacuum insulation and fluid flow.
• Familiar with CAN bus; automotive experience is a plus.
• Proficient with MS Office; ERP/CAD exposure.

Responsibilities

• Review product specifications and research test methods.
• Instrument products to acquire real world service conditions.
• Prepare test specimens and assemble prototype parts.
• Set up and perform experiments based on project requirements.
• Install test instruments and wiring.
• Transfer liquid cryogens by various means.
• Compile, analyze, and reduce data to critical events.
• Design and fabricate test fixtures and simulate bench tests.
• Schedule and manage test programs.
• Document methods and results in technical reports.
• Develop and manage DVP/Rs from DFMEA outputs.
• Observe safety procedures and policies.
• Coordinate with interdepartmental teams to ensure ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 compliance.
• Identify testing requirements to develop test protocol with minimal information.
• Propose design changes based on test data.
