Job summary

OPW Clean Energy Solutions is seeking a skilled pipe welder to lay out, fit, and weld piping and vacuum jacketed assemblies for cryogenic systems. You will read sketches and blueprints, select and position components, and weld using arc, TIG (GTAW), and submerged arc processes.

Candidates should have a High School Diploma or GED and 3+ years of related experience; 6G welding is preferred. Safety-conscious, able to work with hand and power tools, and to inspect bead size.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; technical school preferred.
• 3+ years related experience and/or training, or equivalent.
• Welding in 6G position preferred; ability to read blueprints or sketches.

Responsibilities

• Selects equipment and plans layout, assembles, and welds.
• Lays out, positions, aligns, and fits components together.
• Fabricates from sketches, blueprints or instruction.
• Bolt, clamp, and tack-weld parts to secure position for welding.
• Sets up equipment and welds parts using arc, GTAW-TIG, submerged arc welding.
• Repairs/reworks products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts.
• Uses hand and power tools for assembly and finishing.
• Examines weld bead size and other visual specifications.
• Welds along vertical or overhead lines; chips/grinds excess weld/slag.
