Job summary

HRL Laboratories, an IBM company, invites applications for an Interposer System Design Analyst & Integration Engineer to develop, model, and validate thermal/mechanical behavior of superconducting interposer systems in deep cryogenic environments. Strong FEM, CAD, and cryogenic experience are essential.

The role requires 5+ years in related fields, collaboration across teams, and clear communication of modeling results to senior stakeholders.

Qualifications

BS/MS/PhD in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or Physics with 5+ years of experience.
Proficient in thermal and mechanical FEM tools (ANSYS, COMSOL, Abaqus).
Hands-on experience with low-temperature measurements and fixtures.
Familiarity with CAD tools for 3D models.
Knowledge of superconducting interposers materials.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute detailed FEM models to evaluate interposers across cryogenic temperatures.
Create CAD models and mesh strategies for deep cryo operation.
Collaborate with teams for thermal and mechanical measurements to validate predictions.
Analyze materials and stress/thermal gradients at mK–4 K.
Work with process/packaging/dev eng to align designs with cryogenic requirements.
Document methodologies, assumptions and validation results.
Communicate findings to senior management and stakeholders.
Support cryogenic reliability strategies and failure mode mitigation.
