Job summary

HRL Laboratories, an IBM company, seeks an engineer to assemble, integrate, operate, and maintain advanced cryogenic systems supporting quantum research. You will work on dilution refrigerators, perform maintenance, and diagnose issues in a collaborative lab environment.

Ideal candidates have hands-on experience with cryogenic equipment, strong mechanical skills, and the ability to read engineering docs and BOMs. U.S. Person status is required and a competitive benefits package is offered.

Qualifications

• Degree in a related field or equivalent training or experience.
• Experience with cryogenic systems and dilution refrigerators.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, BOMs, and process docs.
• Strong troubleshooting, mechanical aptitude, and hands-on skills.
• Able to work independently and in a team; good documentation.
• Familiarity with configuration management is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and integrate cryogenic systems and perform upgrades.
• Install, operate, and service dilution refrigerators and related equipment.
• Verify performance, diagnose issues, and restore operation.
• Conduct helium leak checks and vacuum system troubleshooting.
• Maintain documentation and BOMs; report status to management.
• Coordinate builds and schedules with engineering teams.
