Job summary

HRL Laboratories, an IBM company, seeks an Integration Component Design and Analysis Engineer to develop interconnect and integration architectures for superconducting spin qubit projects, perform high level designs and trade studies, and analyze RF propagation in cryogenic environments. This role requires strong communication and deep familiarity with superconducting foundry processes.

Qualifications

• BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related field with 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Strong understanding of wafer level and laminate foundry processes, materials interactions, film interfaces.
• Proficiency in RF design, transmission line theory, and modeling of superconducting RF structures.
• Experience with RF simulation tools (e.g., HFSS, Sonnet, COMSOL, ADS) and data interpretation.
• Familiarity with superconducting test methods and constrained development schedules.

Responsibilities

• Design, analyze, and refine superconducting and non-superconducting component structures with cryogenic requirements.
• Perform RF simulation and analysis of superconducting transmission lines, evaluating impedance and parasitics.
• Collaborate to characterize components and validate performance against requirements.
• Incorporate foundry processes and materials interactions into design decisions.
• Support process development strategies in schedule constrained environments.
• Guide design decisions using superconducting test methods and data trends.
• Coordinate across integration, packaging, test, and process engineering teams.
• Document methodologies, models, and validation outcomes; participate in reviews.
