Job summary

HHMI’s Janelia Research Campus in Ashburn, VA seeks a CryoEM Staff Scientist to run four Titan Krios microscopes and related equipment, collaborating closely with users and cross-disciplinary teams. You will lead cryoEM portions of projects, develop new protocols, train staff, and keep the facility at the cutting edge by adopting new techniques as they emerge.

This on-site role requires a PhD and strong teamwork, with a competitive total rewards package, including on-site amenities and housing

Qualifications

• PhD required; collaborative, experiment-minded scientist.
• Proficiency with Linux, Bash and Python for troubleshooting.
• Ability to manage multiple user projects concurrently.
• Strong teaching and training capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain cryoEM equipment end-to-end and troubleshoot issues.
• Take lead on the cryoEM portion of collaborations, from planning to results.
• Develop, test and integrate new protocols for prep, data collection and processing.
• Stay current with cryoEM developments and bring techniques into workflow.
• Train users and staff on cryoEM methods and equipment.
• Manage samples, cryogens, and data transfer securely.
