Job summary

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or two years of college in building construction, construction inspection or related field.
  • One year of construction or floodplain management experience.
  • Valid state driver's license.
  • Certified Floodplain Manager Certification or ability to obtain within one year of entry.
  • Residential or Commercial Building Inspector Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews elevation certificates for correctness and maintains them for CRS audits.
  • Assist customers with permit applications in Special Flood Hazard Areas; research property records for accuracy.
  • Maintain Flood Maps by checking LOMRs/LOMAs and ensure maps are available on the county site and in libraries.
  • Explain NFIP and CRS requirements to the public, officials, contractors, architects, engineers, etc.
  • Maintain maps and records of Repetitive Loss Properties; keep CRS activity records and communicate with departments and stakeholders.
  • Initiate actions to improve CRS classification; assist in damage assessment when needed.
  • May require on-site inspections of construction within Special Flood Hazard Areas.
  • Attend training and meetings to enhance knowledge; perform other duties as assigned.
