Job Title: Crossing Guard - Part-Time
Reports to: Facilities Assistant
Status: Part-time, Non-Exempt

Mission and Background

Landmark is a coeducational, multi-campus, approved Massachusetts Chapter 766 Private Day and Boarding school enrolling students in grades 2-12 diagnosed with dyslexia or another language-based learning disability (LBLD). These fall under the broader category of specific learning disabilities (SLD). Landmark’s unique, individualized approach empowers students to reach their academic and social potential.

Summary

Landmark School is located on a busy state road (Rte 127) in Beverly MA. At the main entrance to the high school campus, there is a crosswalk and light to provide safe access from the lower campus to the upper campus. The role of the crossing guard is to provide for the safe movement of all students and faculty when crossing the public road by observing gaps in traffic and signaling for traffic to stop before allowing people to cross. The part-time crossing guard will work from 7:15 am to 12:15 pm one day a week, excluding holidays.

Key Responsibilities

1. Work Monday mornings during the normal school calendar from 7:15 am to 12:15 pm.
2. Demonstrate dependability in all types of weather.
3. Exercise good judgment by safely moving people across the street and stopping traffic in an organized manner.
4. Maintain a friendly personality to engage with students and become part of the Landmark community.
5. Exhibit physical stamina to remain alert and perform duties throughout the entire shift.
6. Communicate clearly and effectively to indicate when it is safe or unsafe to cross.

Requirements

1. Solid work history that demonstrates dependability and reliability.
2. Strong work ethic.
3. Ability to work well with the general public and possess good customer service skills.
4. Capability to handle the physical demands of the position, including prolonged periods of standing and visual alertness for safety judgments.
5. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and safety policies.
