Job summary

Northwestern Medicine in Chicago is seeking a Multispecialty Sonographer to perform diagnostic ultrasound across abdominal, OB/GYN, vascular, breast, and MSK studies. You will review requests and patient histories to determine protocols, operate imaging equipment to produce high-quality images, and educate patients throughout the process.

Additionally, you will assess patient care, communicate findings to radiologists, document procedures, and ensure accurate PACS transmission and reporting.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound Sonography Program.
• Certified in two ARDMS areas and one additional ARDMS certification obtained within one year of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS)

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations across abdominal, OB/GYN, vascular, breast, and MSK
• Review imaging requests and patient history to determine examination protocols
• Operate ultrasound equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images
• Provide patient education before, during, and after procedures
• Assess and care for patients in accordance with department and age-specific standards
• Observe, evaluate, and communicate pertinent findings to radiologists and ordering providers
• Prepare examination rooms and ensure routine supplies and sterile setup
• Assist with patient positioning, lifting, and transport
• Accurately document procedures and route to interpreting physicians
• Transmit studies to PACS and other imaging systems with correct accession numbers
• Prepare preliminary findings or reports in designated systems
