Overview

Emory Specialty Associates (ESA) is seeking to hire Anesthetists—Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) or Certified Anesthesiologist Assistant (CAA)—to become a vital part of Emory Healthcare’s integrated academic healthcare system.

Work Hours and Schedule
  • Full time: 10- or 12-hour shifts, with opportunities for extra shifts.
  • No on-call duties or weekend shifts.
Experience
  • One year of general anesthesia experience highly preferred.

Description
  • Assist an anesthesiologist in administering general and regional anesthesia for surgical and non‑surgical procedures.
  • Perform initial acute cardiopulmonary resuscitation in life‑threatening situations as directed.
  • Interpret and record patient physiological and pharmacological status.
  • Assist with routine pre‑operative data gathering.
  • Instruct others in anesthesia, respiratory care, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation principles as directed.
  • Assist in research projects conducted by an anesthesiologist.
  • Establish multi‑parameter monitoring of patients before, during, and after anesthesia, including ECG, arterial pressure, central venous pressure, arterial blood gas, hematocrit, temperature, respiration, blood pressure, and heart rate.
  • Develop other monitoring protocols for anesthesia and intensive care as needed.
  • Manage pre‑ and post‑anesthetic care, including ventilatory support as assigned.
  • Operate ventilators and other respiratory care equipment as directed by the physician.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited CRNA or CAA master’s program.
  • Licensed or eligible to practice in Georgia and certified by the national board (NBCRNA or NCCAA).
  • Maintain biannual certification through the submission of CME credits.
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications from the American Heart Association.
Physical Requirements

Medium‑heavy: 36–75 lb lifts 0–33 % of shift; 20–35 lb lifts 34–66 % of shift; 10–20 lb lifts 67–100 % of shift; maximum lift 75 lb; carry objects up to 35 lb. Requires occasional to frequent standing, walking, and sitting; close eye work with computers, typing, reading, and writing. Physical demands may vary by work area.

Work may involve exposure to blood‑borne pathogens, biohazardous waste, chemicals, gases, fumes, communicable diseases, electrical shock, floor surfaces, temperature extremes, indoors/outdoors, latex, lighting, patient transport injuries, radiation, shift work, travel, and use of personal protective equipment. Conditions may vary by work area and tasks.
