Job summary

Kaiser Permanente in California is seeking a qualified professional to join the anesthesia care team for selecting and administering intravenous, spinal, and other anesthetics before and during procedures. You will monitor patient status and maintain records, including postoperative notes, and perform procedures outside the OR per KP policies and MD orders.

The role involves collaboration with anesthesiologists and surgeons, documentation of anesthesia plans, and adherence to safety standards

Responsibilities

• Conducts and/or reviews anesthetic evaluation of patients prior to procedures; consults with anesthesiologists and/or surgeons.
• Reviews patients' charts, including pre-operative medications, lab work, or prostheses, per KP policies and procedures.
• Evaluates airway-related challenges and ensures pre-anesthesia evaluations are documented thoroughly.
• Explains tests, procedures, and risks to patients and families; documents explanations.
• Develops and implements anesthesia plans; starts IVs and administers anesthetics with patient safety in mind.
• Assists post-anesthesia care unit by coordinating patient transfers and safety checks.
• Monitors vital signs and notifies the team of significant changes; takes remedial actions as needed.
• Prepares and mixes anesthetic solutions per required concentrations.
• Keeps accurate records of procedures and patient conditions before anesthesia.
• Performs outside-OR procedures (e.g., intubation) per policies and physician orders.
