Job summary

Albany Medical Center is seeking a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist to deliver safe anesthesia care for general, regional, or MAC cases under physician supervision. You will participate in pre- and postoperative evaluations, obtain informed consent, and help maintain anesthesia equipment and procedures.

Responsibilities include responding to airway emergencies, mentoring anesthesia students, and ensuring compliance with hospital policies across AMC campuses.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a school approved by council on Certification of Nurse Anesthesia Educational programs.
• New graduates are welcome.
• CRNA - Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist Upon Hire - required
• RN - Registered Nurse - NYS Licensure Upon Hire - required
• Currently certified by the NBCRNA Upon Hire - required

Responsibilities

• Administer and/or manage patients receiving general, regional, or MAC anesthesia under the supervision of an anesthesiologist according to delineation of privileges.
• Participate in the pre and postoperative evaluation and management of patients.
• Interview patients to obtain informed consent.
• Assist in the care and maintenance of supplies and equipment used in administering anesthesia care.
• Respond to emergencies related to airway management and resuscitation.
• Clinical precepting and competency evaluation of nurse anesthesia students in the Albany Medical College Center for Nurse Anesthesiology program.
• Assist in the maintenance of hospital procedures, policies, safety regulations, and program objectives.
• Provide anesthesia coverage at one or more AMC campus facilities within a single workday, as assigned by the Anesthesia Coordinator.
• Adheres to the policies and procedures of the Albany Medical Center.

Salary Range: The role of the CRNA is to deliver safe care to patients requiring anesthesia and accurately assess and interpret data reflective of the patient's status, providing individualized care. CRNAs must demonstrate the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served and demonstrate the principles of growth and development over the life span.
