Job summary

Albany Medical Center is seeking a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist to provide safe anesthesia care in OR, procedure rooms, and MRI settings under physician supervision. The role includes perioperative evaluation, equipment maintenance, and adherence to HIPAA and hospital policies.

Applicant must be CRNA with RN license and NBCRNA certification; state licensure required. Positions may involve 8‑ to 24‑hour shifts. The department supports teaching within the Center for Nurse Anesthesiology.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a school approved by the Council on Education for the Nurse Anesthesia (CEN) Educational Programs.
• Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA).
• Registered Nurse (RN) license. State licensure and/or compact licensure.

Responsibilities

• Administer general and regional anesthesia under the supervision of an anesthesiologist according to delineation of privileges.
• Participate in the pre- and postoperative evaluation and management of patients.
• Assist in the care and maintenance of supplies and equipment used in administering anesthesia care.
• Respond to emergencies related to airway management and resuscitation.
• Participate in Albany Medical College’s Center for Nurse Anesthesiology program, including didactic and clinical teaching and evaluation of students.
• Assist in the maintenance of hospital procedures, policies, safety regulations, and program objectives.
• Interview patients to obtain informed consent.
• Perform other duties as required by the Chief Nurse Anesthetist, the Chairman of the Department of Anesthesiology, or the Director of Operating Room Anesthesia.
• Adhere to the policies and procedures of Albany Medical Center.

Must demonstrate knowledge and skill appropriate to the age of patients served across the lifespan. This position may involve shifts ranging from 8‑hour to 24‑hour days.
